What’s the Birkman Method?

Created more than 65 years ago, the Birkman Method is a scientifically developed, multi-dimensional tool that combines behavioral and occupational data to help people and organizations improve performance. It identifies four key facets of personality – interests, usual behaviours, needs (motivations), and stress behaviours – and analyzes how personality and occupation interact. As a certified Birkman consultant, I will interpret your analysis and offer a debrief in ways that are easy to understand and applicable in practice.

Needs are what people expect from other people and their environment. When someone’s needs are met, they are satisfied and productive, and they perform at their best. Needs vary widely between people, and they cannot be observed from behaviours. The Birkman Method is the only assessment that measures needs, and thus, it is one of the most powerful assessments on the market today used by millions of people and the world’s best companies like Coca-Cola, Walmart, P&G, Shell and many more. It is used in more than 40 countries and delivered in more than 20 languages.
